Lincoln formally named Lancaster, was founded in 1856, Nebraska in the 1800's had many adjustments due to the population, they actually moved the capitol from Omaha to the salt flats and marshes south of the Platte River. Lancaster itself was renamed after a famous president, President Abraham Lincoln had recently been assassinated. Following this in March1st 1867 Lincoln became the state capitol parallel to Nebraska becoming a state.
Lincoln has a extensive park system, and places of interest, it also plays host to such events as the world famous Christmas fair where the whole Christmas experience will bring the child out in anyone.
