The 2nd largest city of California, Los Angeles, was first visited by Spanish explorer Gasper De Portola in 1769 and 1781 by el pueblo de nuestra senora de Los Angeles de Porciuncula, (town of Our Lady the queen of the angels of Porciuncula), was founded.
From cattle- ranching centre to the arrivals of railroads in 1876, Los Angeles grew stimulated by the discovery of oil in the 1890’s, together with the development of the motion picture industry in the early 20’s.
Today, Los Angeles has a large grip on most of the major industries and is the distribution center for the United States and much of the Pacific Rim. Very much a business city and truly a city of dreams of fame and fortune, just about everything one could need can be found in Los Angeles.
