Salt lake city on the Jordan river and near the Great Salt Lake at the foot of the Wasatch Range, the Great Salt Lake which is the origin of the city’s name is a remnant of the massive ancient lake, Lake Bonneville the largest saltwater lake in the western hemisphere, also the source of many company table salt and minerals which can be extracted from the water. Incorporated in 1851 Salt Lake City is the capitol of Utah and the largest city in its state. Founded in 1847 by Brigham young who was the early head of ‘the church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints’, Today, and Salt Lake City is still the location of the world wide headquarters for the church.
